Білі плями на лобі, вилицях і підборідді покладені останніми: вони не малюють світло, а прориваються крізь колір.

Each work is built up in many thin layers, laid on with a squeegee and a palette knife and partly taken off again. What stays on the surface is what survived that back and forth — a perception that is spontaneous and considered at the same time.

The surface is never quite the same twice: in daylight the glazes stay open and the lower layers show through, under a warm lamp the picture pulls together and the darker passages close. The edges of the canvas are painted along with the front, so the work hangs as it is — a frame is a matter of taste, not a necessity.

Every piece is unique and belongs to a series the artist keeps working on; nothing is reproduced as a print. The photographs are taken in the studio in daylight, without retouching — on a screen the colour can still differ slightly from the original, and you are welcome to ask for further images or a short video before you decide.
